Company History

2013

In July 2013, Streamline Tankers GmbH was established and moved into an office space in central Hamburg alongside the Elbe River. In August 2013, Streamline Tankers’ fleet development started with the arrival of the first ship under the company's commercial management service, the MT Cape Egmont. Just one month later the MT Cape Esmeralda and MT Cape Daly followed and with the addition of the MT Cape Dawson in October and MT Cape Blanc in November, Streamline Tankers concluded the first year with five Chemical Tankers of 13,000 DWT and 33,500 DWT under its management.

2014

In January 2014, Streamline Tankers welcomed the MT Rio Dauphin to its 13,000 DWT pool and later the same year in August 2014, the MT Ina Theresa joined the same pool. Then in October 2014, Streamline Tankers took over the second 33,540 DWT ship, the MT Cape Benat, which stayed with the company until the ship changed ownership in March 2015.

2015

In May 2015, Streamline Tankers welcomed the MT Bomar Jupiter to enter its Commercial Management service. As Streamline Tankers’ fleet increased, the company continued to follow its strategy of building up multiple trading areas with a focus on niche markets in the Chemical Tanker segment. This successful strategy generated market leading income levels on the fleet and furthermore, it had a positive compounding effect on laying the foundation for further fleet growth. Until the End of 2015, Streamline Tankers managed nine Chemical Tankers of the sizes 13,000 DWT and 33,500 DWT. While three of these units exited the fleet through sales, the remaining six stayed under Streamline Tankers' commercial control.

2016

In January 2016, Streamline Tankers signed a joint venture agreement as co-investors for four additional Chemical Tankers, the MT Bardon, MT Mesabi, MT Sawtooth and MT Lutsen. The investment initiative in ship assets underlined the commitment of Streamline Tankers to this market sector and it aligned the interest of the company and the pool members of Streamline's 13,000 DWT pool. With the delivery of the additional four ships, Streamline Tankers' fleet increased to 10 vessels, of which 9 traded in Streamline Tankers 13,000 DWT Pool. After almost one-year trading under Streamline Tankers’ Commercial Management service, the MT Bomar Jupiter exited for a time charter commitment. In early May, Streamline Tankers secured the contract of two additional ships for its 13,000 DWT pool, the MT Chemtrans Elbe and MT Chemtrans Havel. This successful signing increased Streamline Tankers’ fleet and pool to 11 ships.

2017-2019

During the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, Streamline Tankers has supported various Pool Members on their efforts to sell their vessels to buyers that were located outside Streamline Tankers’ usual trading area. Streamline Tankers defines its role not only upon commercially taking good care of the ships under its management, but also upon supporting its Pool Members, whenever possible, beyond the contracts they sign with us. This, for instance, by seeking good commercial and supportive solutions when a vessel’s sale is beneficial to the relevant Pool Member/Owner. While we do not like to see ships leaving our fleet, we rate our business relationships to our pool members much higher and therefore we always aim for the most supportive and best exit processes for ships that follow a different destination. Short term we lose a ship but long term we gain a very good business support.

2020

In February 2020, Streamline Tankers changed offices and moved to its new premises at a more centralized location in Hamburg. In July 2020, the Owners of the MT Portola signed a commercial management contract with the related pool entrance at the Streamline Tankers 13,000 DWT pool. After the Bomar Jupiter was assigned to Streamline Tankers’ commercial management service back in 2015, this is their second ship to join the Streamline Tankers fleet.
